He was impressed with the quintessence/synchronicity between beliefs. Not new-age, neo-pagan or wicca, silliness. You can't have compassion for inaccuracy, made up modern-ness or a silly community which neither supports or believes you.
The same goes for a lot of 'modern' ideas. I.E. Some think traditional small farmers are stupid, but complain about factory farms, freshness, cage free etc. If you think factory farms are disgusting, then don't patronize them! If you want fresh vegetables, meat, eggs, etc. then petition the politicians to subsidize small farms. If you eat animals give them a chance for a happy life...
