Appalachian (Mountain person/country person) way of fixing a dead enemy as a guard to property

The old way to 'fix' a spirit as a 'sentinel' on your property is to take the hair of the deceased or enemy and drill a hole in a certain type of tree (yes, not available to the public) and plug the tree back with its own pre-drilled bark and heartwood core.  Not a nice or pleasant thing to do, as the spirit can't go up, down, sideways or become a 'new baby' in his/her own family (metempsychosis).  Coincidentally, the same thing used to be done with a living young persons' hair to cure them of phtisic (asthma).  Think of /upon the 'intent' of rituals... The hair of two people braided up then enclosed in the split of a certain tree, causes 'fascination' or used as 'envoutement' of the two, according to INTENT.  The sapling tree is bound and if it grows the union of the two people will grow, as they used to say.   Tree-spirit, Domovoi, Baumgeist
