Opposition

An experiment involves the magician or witch taking everything that he/she holds dear in life and imagining it as complete 'garbage' (the mild interpretation).  This is a difficult idea to hold for a long period, but it will of course, change your perception.  If you have the 'knack', 'two-headed sight', 'second sight' it will lead to vision.  If you do not, it will upset you, but you will be aware of other's struggles in life.  Oppositional vision will not win friends or will push away the 'friends' you have, neither make you wealthy,  nor overjoyed or anything other than aware of the horrible circumstances of the hopeless, and socially marginal.  Sounds like fun, right?

1. Siberian Shamans used to 'drop' into the underworld and witness spirits tearing them into pieces and then be 'reborn'.

2. Welsh witches used (still happening according to some accounts) to take the Holy Communion bread and walk thrice around the church counterclockwise and feed the bread to the "Black Toad".

3. In the Southern U.S., witches up until the 1960's (some say later), went to the mountain-top at sunrise to 'cuss'/curse 'God'.

4. Tantriks in India gather the skulls of the recently cremated, drink and smoke to excess, rub ashes of cremation on themselves.

5. Christian ascetics used to wear sack-cloth in the desert.

6. Jesus the Christ, was said to have 'dropped' into 'Hell'/Gehenna- the great grave for three days and pulled out souls.

7. Gautama Buddha gave up a kingdom and lived in the wild.

8. Merddyn Emrys (Merlin) gave up courtly life, went insane/'mad' in the forests and then returned wiser.

9. Gnostic sects opposed Catholic interpretations, as they knew a 'dead religion' has no new prophets.

It is a similar interpretation with the 1970's to 80's Punk movement, the Flapper Girl/Vamp in the 20's, The 1960's, although these only caused mundane changes in awareness, not 'the sight'.  I'm not being 'eclectic', but there was quintessence in many of these ideas.  The mundane achieved the 'right order' vision of the mundane, whilst the spiritual achieved the 'right order' spiritual vision (gnosis or continual belief/'saints')

These are dangerous concepts, socially and mentally. People believe in nothing these days except their will to conquer and dispute others, sometimes with a religious, sometimes with a pseudo-scientific/political veneer.  People no longer live in communities, unless in the country.  People have always loathed rural populations, even more so as we are all funneled/herded into cities large and small.  It is extremely difficult for rural populations to make a living.  Oppose!
