"Alt Deutsch"

A lot of old German (Alt Deutsch) will be nonsense to modern Germans.  This is partly because Fraktur (modern English speakers have a difficult time reading old English Cursive and occasionally modern Cursive).  They weren't taught these things in school or college, as other things take priority these days.  Fortunately, the old farts (we) can read these documents with some trouble.  Some old German vocabulary and 'Appalachian' English words are also nonsense to 'modern' speakers.

Irrlichten: The souls of unbaptized children or adults.  In one (Our) Homeland of the Swiss Jura.
Unholt/Unholde:  The "Hexen", also medieval Christian charms against the 'Hexen'. In Bayern, sort of a clothes line looking thing with charms placed on the strings.
Schlukenbild - 'A swallow stamp'...a medieval picture of a Saint swallowed for Exorcism or to cure a disease.
Hexenrauch:  An incense especially in Bayern (Bavaria-Southern Germany) used as a counter-magic measure against Hexe (Witches).  It seems to be in modern Deutsch (German) "Witches Smoke" and gives the impression to modern speakers that Witches used it (incorrectly printed in some modern German uggh 'Wicca' books).  Hexenrauch was used by ordinary people, 'expellers' and 'witchdoctors' in Germany, Austria (Osterreich) and Switzerland (Der Schweiz) to counteract the practices of Witches (Die Hexen).  Hexenrauch is still sold in parts of Bayern (Bavaria).
