St. Patrick's Day

There is an old myth (it is difficult to deny or prove) that the 'Serpents' that St. Patrick drove out of Eire' were the Druids or the last vestiges of the bards.  The period was under-documented; even in Ireland, a bastion of learning at the time in Europe.  Historians rely on the written documentation of the era.  There is also speculation that St. Patrick was a Druid, although historically we know next to nothing on the Druids, even in the archaeological 'record'.   The Druids learned by memorization and wrote no documents, according to Roman Historians.  It's a sad loss for European History, that  religions of kings and conquerors replaced 'native spirituality', that was described as both barbaric (usually by non Britons/Irish/Gauls) and wise philosophy.  The world of dross never values the old, just the new.
