Some thoughts on Mental Health

In Mythology, Cain was the first man (at least in middle-eastern lore) to have mental illness or in technical terms Anxiety Disorder.

CHAP. LXXIX.
11 Then Cain began at once to dig the earth wherein to lay his brother; for he was trembling from the fear that came upon him, when he saw the earth tremble on his account.

19 But Cain wept because God had said those words to him; and Cain said unto Him "O God, whosoever finds me shall kill me, and I shall be blotted out from the face of the earth."

20 Then God said unto Cain, "Whosoever shall find thee shall not kill thee;" because before this, God had been saying to Cain, "I shall forego seven punishments on him who kills Cain." For as to the word of God to Cain, "Where is thy brother?" God said it in mercy for him, to try and make him repent.

Although, Cain only murdered the hunter - gatherer society (viewed as innocent and pure), by introducing agriculture, cities, order and reduction to starvation.

We bring this topic up because those who deal with Anxiety, Traumatic Brain Injury, Depression, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Autism, the various spectrum etc.; have 'fear and shaking' everyday.  There are 'no good days', there is only lighter 'symptom/disorder' days.  Everyday is punishment for nothing!  So it's difficult to us to understand the concepts/myths of 'happiness', pleasantness, cohesive and permanent social relationships, relaxation, order, blessings, and 'life as a gift'.  Sleep/Rest/Comfort from the fascinating, gorgeous world created by the wealthy and 'normal' is OUR GIFT.
