'Lifting' - an old (18th to early 19th century) North Carolina expression referring to the modern 'out of body experience' or travelling to the 'abandoned house', 'mountain-top' or to the 'church'.  "travelling, flying, gnosis, Baraka, transvection (old Latin based word), ecstasy, riding, riding the horse, figurative 'broom-riding'...et cetera".  I hope someone gains something from this blog and it's not just self indulgence, actually I/we hope it's both.
