BBC: " 'Magic Mushrooms' and Reindeer"
Magic Mushrooms' and Reindeer
It has been suggested that 'animals' have 'ritual/magic' activity. The reindeer is one instance of that belief. I.e. cats and dogs pacing a circle before they sleep may have a ritual significance. They know they aren't tramping down grass in a field anymore, yet they still perform the action. Some cats, wild and domestic, love to eat mushrooms. Certain birds will eat fermented fruit, the reason being unknown to science/people. This is speculative at best (no quantitative evidence), but still it's an interesting thought!
